BRINN Bevan’s Olympic dreams are in jeopardy after suffering a double leg break.
The 18-year-old gymnast, who helped Great Britain win team silver at last month’s World Championships, suffered the setback when vaulting at the weekend.
“The pain, as excruciating as it was, I could handle, but the disappointment and heartbreak from going from such a high at the World Championships to the lowest low after a little mishap was very hard for me,” said Bevan, from Thundersley.
“All my emotions just erupted and I’ve found myself constantly in tears.”
Bevan, who trains at the South Essex Gymnastics Club in Basildon, has already had surgery on his leg.
And he is determined to bounce back from the disappointment.
“This may be a big stepping stone to overcome but most if not all successful athletes have had to overcome adversity to reach their goals,” said Bevan.
“That moment at the World Championships I will never forget and it’s something I want to feel again.
“So, after my recovery stage, I will be grinding to get myself back better than I have ever been.”
