THE PREVIEW: Great Wakering have struggled for consistency in recent with, with just one win in their last eight matches.

And things aren’t getting any easier, with Gary Ansell taking his team to play-off hopefuls Cheshunt tomorrow.

Cheshunt sit fifth in the standings and boast the deadliest marksmen in the league.

Jason Hallett, right, formerly of Canvey Island, Concord Rangers and East Thurrock, has hit 24 goals in Cheshunt’s 25 games so far, and keeping him quiet may prove the biggest task facing Rovers’ injury-depleted defence.

Deep-lying midfielder Charlie Barlow, scorer of two late goals in recent weeks, is likely to play a key role.

WHAT HE SAYS: Rovers manager Gary Ansell said: “I am confident we have the ability in the group to match anyone on our day.

“The results don’t look great but the work Rob (Polkinghorn – assistant manager and first team-coach) is putting in is slowly taking effect and I am pleased with the developments.

“We have to keep players like Hallett quiet but I think we can starve the service and be effective that way.”

“I could go and get players but I don’t want to make a rash decision. I have my eye on a few players and may do something over the next couple of weeks.”
