SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has revealed he wants to keep both Kevan Hurst and David Worrall at Roots Hall.

The wingers were left out of the Shrimpers’ squad for last Saturday’s clash with Coventry City.

But Brown is still keen for them to remain at Roots Hall.

“I want to keep them both,” said the Blues boss.

“The more options I’ve got in wide areas the better it is for me as far as I’m concerned.

“It allows me to change systems but if I left one of them go then it narrows my options out wide, especially with Myles Weston and Stephen McLaughlin being in the treatment room.”

However, Worrall is continuing to attract interest from Bury who have already seen a bid for the winger turned down.

And Brown hinted that the Mancunian could be keen to head back up north.

“There has been interest in Dave and he’s made reference to that in a positive way from his perspective,” said Brown.

“But it’s a negative thing from my perspective.

“As far as Kevan is concerned though, he’s never made any reference of wanting to leave or get away.

“He’s trying to improve himself and his situation to try and get a contract.”
