SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown believes there will be a special buzz around Roots Hall this weekend – and not just because of the local derby.

Blues host Colchester United sitting seventh in the League One standings.

And Brown is desperate to please a bumper crowd with a third successive win.

“There’s a special buzz around the place at the moment but not just down to the fact we’re about to play a local derby,” said the Shrimpers boss.

“It’s also because we’ve won our last two games with 10 men and we’re continuing to exceed expectations which is great.

“We understand that that there are bragging rights at stake for our fans and we want to make sure we get them in front of a full house.

“However, Colchester will also be desperate to get the points due to where they are in the table so there’s certainly plenty of spice to the game.”

Brown has the on loan Tyrone Barnett available again for tomorrow’s clash after he was denied permission to play against his parent club Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night.

His unavailability led to Noel Hunt earning a recall but the Irishman faces a late fitness test on a back problem ahead of tomorrow’s game.

“Noel couldn’t train yesterday but we still have 24 hours to work on him and see how his back settles down,” said Brown.

“His back went into spasm and the journey home didn’t help him either but he will be having a late fitness test.”

Midfielder Michael Timlin will definitely miss out with a one match ban following his red card against Shrewsbury while John White (calf) and Myles Weston (Achilles) will also miss out.

Stephen McLaughlin and Anthony Wordsworth are unlikely to be considered having just returned to training after recovering from ankle injuries.

But Gary Deegan is available again after a serving a one match suspension and recovering from a rib injury while on loan Arsenal midfielder Glen Kamara is also being considered by Brown.

“It’s probably too early for Woody and Steve Mac to be involved again but Deegs is further along and is in my thinking along with Glen,” said Brown.

“Glen’s attitude has been first class in training and he’s waiting patiently for his chance.”

On loan striker Jamar Loza will also have to pass a concussion questionnaire before being passed fit for the game after colliding with Shrewsbury goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler towards the end of Tuesday night’s clash at Greenhous Meadow
