JASON Williams has signed a year-long deal to stay at Southend United.

As was revealed in Friday’s Echosport, the 20-year-old striker will be staying at Roots Hall for a further 12 months.

And he is keen to push into the first team during that time.

“I’ve had a few substitute appearances but I want to be getting more chances and I’ll be working hard to try and make that happen,” said Williams, who appeared twice from the bench last term.

“I’ve been with Southend for a long time now and the aim has always been to move up into the first team and score goals there, “I’m confident I can do it but it’s important to have a good pre-season.”

Williams came through the youth system with Blues and has made six substitute appearances in the Football League.
