BENFLEET racing driver Danny Harrison is targeting a podium finish next time out in the Fiesta Junior Championship.

The 15-year-old racer overcame technical problems at the Rockingham circuit to bag two seventh-place finishes.

His performances at the Northamptonshire track also earned him the Driver of the Day award after an alternator fault meant he was unable to set a qualifying time and had to start 18th on the grid.

Now he is hoping to finish in the top three next month when the series heads to Snetterton in Norfolk on June 11 and 12.

Danny cut his teeth in motorsport in karts, having started at the age of eight and competing in both club and national championships, including Super One and Formula Kart Stars.

He picked up plenty of trophies and still holds the lap record at the Kimbolton kart circuit.

The teenage driver graduated to cars at the end of last season at Brands Hatch.

"His first two races this season saw him get hit off the track and resulted in did not finishes," said Danny's dad David.

"In the second round his engine blew up, so the races at Rockingham were the proper ones that he had with the car working.

"He showed what he can do and is now hoping to finish on the podium at Snetterton."

Danny is looking for sponsorship to help him compete and any would-be sponsors can contact David on 07802 498989.
