CONCORD Rangers have continued their summer strengthening by adding attacking duo Alex Akrofi and Dean Mason.

The Beach Boys have recruited the pair after the departure of Lewis Taaffe to Hemel Hempstead Town, while fellow winger Ben Greenhalgh is yet to commit his future to the club.

Manager Adam Flanagan worked with Akrofi while manager at Brentwood Town, with the striker netting a hat-trick in the Ryman One North play-off final in 2015, while Mason links up with the club having previously worked with assistant manager Glen Alzapiedi.

And Flanagan said the duo are important additions to his squad.

“Alex I have worked with before and is someone I know will fit in with us very well,” he said. “He was becoming frustrated at Maidstone as he wanted to get more game time so I spoke to Jay and he thought it was a good move for everyone involved. The term of the loan will be decided on how Alex performs but I believe he will do well for us.

“Dean was a player that had worked with Glen in the past. He has been playing at a good level with Lowestoft in the National League North so when Taaffe decided to go I thought Dean would be an ideal candidate to come into the team.”

Concord have already agreed terms with more than a dozen players ahead of next term, with Supporters’ Player of the Year Tom Stephen, Joao Carlos, James White and Steve Cawley among those verbally agreeing to remain at the Aspect Arena.
