NEIL Harris vowed to make sure his Millwall side come back stronger next season after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Barnsley in the League One play-off this afternoon.

The Tykes netted twice inside the opening 20 minutes to make sure of their place in the Championship.

And that made it a disappointing afternoon at Wembley for the Eastwood based Harris.

“I’m incredibly proud of these players but we’re all hugely disappointed to have lost the game,” said the former Southend United striker.

“What we have achieved this season has been very unexpected but it was just a shame we couldn’t finish it off.

“I’m not going to make any excuses and congratulations go to Barnsley but we have to learn from this now.

“It’s going to take time to get over but we’ll come back next season and make sure we’re even better.”

The defeat means Millwall – who are favourites to sign former Blues winger David Worrall - will still be in the same league as Southend next season.
