LEIGH-On-SEA and Wickford will both be aiming to do something they are yet to do this season when they meet tomorrow – win back-to-back matches in Shepherd Neame Division Two.

Both have found the going tough this year but both claimed morale-boosting victories last weekend to give their survival chances a shot in the arm.

Leigh beat Hutton by 94 runs, inspired by captain Dean Waller’s stunning 141 off just 97 deliveries, while Wickford beat Harlow Town by three wickets to earn just their second win of a forgettable season so far.

And Waller knows the significance of tomorrow’s match, as he rallies the troops.

“It is obviously a huge match for both teams,” he said. “We are both struggling but both got wins last weekend, and I feel pretty positive all things considered.

“Although we are second from bottom, we are only 11 points behind fifth-placed Harlow Town so we are not far off.

“But it is a must-win game as far as I am concerned as we are too good to be in this position. So we have to go out there and prove that.”

Old Southendian & Southchurch travel to Gidea Park & Romford in a match between two of the division’s form sides.

The Old Boys have won four of the last five and Gidea Park have triumphed in each of their last three matches, with the teams fourth and second respectively.

Horndon-on-the-Hill visit Harlow Town with both looking to put some distance between themselves and the relegation places.

Horndon have fallen to just five points above the drop zone after three defeats in their last four outings, but, like Leigh, can climb to fifth with victory tomorrow.
