RUNDOWN: It is top against bottom at the Aspect Arena today as early front-runners Maidenhead United visit.

The Berkshire side have won four of their five matches to set the pace in the National League South, with 11 goals scored and just two conceded to date.

Hitting the net has been one of Concord’s problems in the early weeks, although they have looked more likely in recent times as only two late goals stopped them taking the points at Oxford last weekend.

Steve Cawley will look to net his first of the season this afternoon although will be playing against a team who have kept clean sheets in three of their matches.

But Concord will take heart from the fact they are unbeaten in three matches against Maidenhead at home, with two wins and a draw to their name.

MANAGER’S VIEW: Beach Boys boss Adam Flanagan said: “It will be a tough game as they are flying high at the moment. I thought they were good last year, especially at home, and Alan (Devonshire) has added further quality this year.

“They are the joint leading scorers in the league and have only let in two so they are good going forward and at the back.

“I have confidence in the group that we have. Yes, results haven’t gone how we would have liked but every game has been competitive and in every one we asked questions of the opposition, worked hard and have been unlucky not to take something from the game.

“We need to make sure we turn up and put in an error-free performance. If we do this then it will be a close game.”
