BRINN Bevan is determined to build on his impressive Olympic debut.

The Thundersley-based 19-year-old helped Great Britain secure a fourth-place finish in the team final.

But Bevan is now eager to keep on impressing in a bid to secure even more success at the 2020 Games in Tokyo.

“As soon as the competition was over in Rio I was eager to get back in the gym again,” said Bevan, who fought back from a broken leg to make it to Brazil.

“I know I’ve got a lot of work to do but I’m setting my targets high.

“I have a few ideas to play around with and hopefully I can get similar results to Max next time.”

Bevan performed impressively in the team competition and was happy to prove he warranted his inclusion.

“I did my job in the team final and I’m happy to say that I delivered,” said the former Deanes School pupil.

“It was a big fight for me to get there but I didn’t make any mistakes out there and proved I was the man for the job.”

That saw Bevan receive a huge ovation - alongside Max Whitlock - on his return to Basildon.

And he was delighted to see so many fans in attendance.

“It was incredible,” said Bevan.

“It was an amazing experience in Rio.

“It’s good to be home and I never expected this kind of welcome.

“I didn’t realise there were so many people supporting Max and I.”
