CANVEY Island’s FA Cup dream ended at Potters Bar Town as they went down 3-2 to the Southern League Division One side.

The Gulls started well, with George Sykes and Tony Stokes going close.

But they fell behind on 13 minutes, as Eoin Casey headed beyond Louis Godwin-Green and into the net.

Martin Tuohy shot over before Stokes levelled with a terrific strike into the top corner, 10 minutes before the break.

But two minutes later they were behind again and there was a touch of good fortune about it as Ryan O’Rawe’s attempted clearance looped off Ryan Forde and in.

And things looked very bleak when, with 25 minutes remaining, Michael Murray made it 3-1 to the hosts.

Canvey were pressing and pulled a goal back with 10 minutes remaining. Sykes got the goal after good work from substitute Kojo Awotwi.

Tuohy was brilliantly kept out in stoppage time but it was to be Potters Bat that progressed to the third qualifying round.

Billericay Town were 3-2 winners in an entertaining Ryman Premier League game at AFC Sudbury.

Town had taken charge in the match with two goals in the opening half hour but Sudbury hit back to level by half-time.

Junior Luke had scored after 17 and 30 minutes to put Town ahead, and it should have been three when Goldy Capela hit the post.

But a minute later it was 2-1 when Liam Wales headed into the net before Aaron Greene levelled from close range.

Billericay needed a response and he got one after the break as they continued to press.

Kreshnic Krasniqi made it 3-2 with 20 minutes to go and that was how it stayed.

Bowers & Pitsea earned an admirable 1-1 draw at Brightlingsea Regent, although it could and perhaps should have been a win.

Bowers had taken the lead and it was Lewis Manor on target, as he made space on the edge of the area and crashed home emphatically.

But Phil Kelly levelled on 25 minutes and it was route one as he burst onto a long kick to beat Martyn Guest.

James Thomas headed over, while saves kept out Manor, Brad Warner and Alfie Hilton before the half was out.

Manor struck over after the break but it was to remain 1-1.
