BASILDON United manager Aaron Bloxham has praised his team as they continue to grow in confidence but says they must keep focus as they visit Burnham Ramblers in the Essex Senior League.

The Bees beat Hullbridge Sports 1-0 on Saturday and now turn their attention to struggling Burnham, who are second-from-bottom with nine defeats from their opening 10 games.

And Bloxham has urged his side not to lose focus, after Ramblers upset the odds to beat Hullbridge last week on their travels.

“I thought we fully deserved our win on Saturday,” he said. “We won our battles and moved the ball well.

“I have asked a lot of the boys lately and they have reacted fantastically to it. We have a long season ahead but I am very happy with how the team is progressing at the moment.

“We must now keep our focus ahead of Tuesday and not get carried away. We must turn up and be ready to put in the same effort as Saturday.”

Southend Manor were surprise losers at the weekend, going down to Olympian outfit Canning Town in the FA Vase.

Manager Stuart Marshall is now searching for a response against Redbridge tonight.

“I need a response,” he said. “In terms of possession on Saturday it was all us but we missed chance after chance. Disappointment will hopefully be the driver we need tonight."

Manor have brought in Bayley Newell from Concord Rangers ahead of the clash.

Hullbridge are in Essex Senior Cup action, with Clacton the visitors to Lower Road tonight.

Sports sit second in the league but have won just once in their last five matches in league and cup, and manager Rob Hodgson will be keen to prolong his side’s spell in the tournament.
