BLUES boss Phil Brown believes Anthony Wordsworth is reaping the rewards of finally being able to play pain free.
Wordsworth’s brace in Saturday’s 3-0 win at MK Dons made it five goals in seven starts for the attacking midfielder since recovering from a hamstring injury.
And Brown is certain the impressive strike ratio is all to do with Wordsworth’s finally being fully fit.
“I couldn’t believe it when I read the Echo the other day and Woody said it was the first time in two or three years he had been playing pain free but you can certainly see that with how he’s playing,” said Brown.
“He hadn’t ever really said anything about playing through the pain up until he had the hamstring problem towards the end of last season which ended up keeping him out for quite some time.
“That was frustrating for us all but that’s finally been solved and I don’t think there has ever been any doubt about Anthony’s ability.
“He has real quality and his two goals here were fantastic.
“I’m delighted for him but the challenge for him now is to try and keep it going.
“However, no one should be singled out as the whole team played well.”
