SOUTHEND United winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce is becoming anxious of ahead of the new season.

The 24-year-old midfielder has seen the Shrimpers make just one signing since the end of the previous campaign.

And he has also yet to hear anything about a new contract - despite his current deal expiring in less than 12 months time.

"I haven't been able to talk to anyone at the club," said the Jamaican international.

"I want to stay but I am becoming very concerned at the lack of activity."

Campbell-Ryce joined Blues from Rotherham United, initially on loan, in September 2005.

The move was eventually made permanent the following summer after a Football League hearing.

He then impressed during the second half of last season and is now being tracked by both Leicester and Coventry City.

But he is not looking to leave the Seasiders.

"I have heard the rumours but I leave all that side of things to my agent and the club," he said.

"I want to stay at Southend though because I love the supporters."
