BASILDON United boss Aaron Bloxham insists his side are buzzing ahead of tomorrow’s FA Vase clash with Gorleston.

Basildon will be making the trip to Norfolk in the third round of the competition.

And Bloxham is desperate for Basildon to make it another step closer to a Wembley final.

“We want to get to the final and play at Wembley,” said Bloxham.

“Personally I don’t think there’s any point even entering the Vase if you aren’t going to try and make all of your dreams come true by getting to such an iconic ground.

“I think most men dream of playing there and we’re no different.

"Because of that the Vase really does keep the camp buzzing and we want that extra buzz to continue for as long as possible.

“We’re desperate to get through tomorrow.

"It’s a game we’re all up for up and if play like we can we know we can win it.”

Basildon - who are currently seventh in the Essex Senior League standings - have also prepared properly for the clash.

And Bloxham has taken time out to research his side’s opponents in the build up to the tie.

“We actually went to watch them last Friday,” said Bloxham.

“They showed they are a good team that night and they have some good attacking players.

"But we have seen enough for us to believe if we play to our potential then we have a chance to get ourselves in the hat for the next round and that’s obviously our target.”

However, Gorleston will also be keen to get through and they are likely to provide a threat as they currently sit third in the Eastern Counties Football League Premier Division.

But that does not concern Bloxham who has also taken inspiration from Bowers and Pitsea’s run to the semi-finals of the Vase last season.

“Seeing what Bowers did last year was great and shows what can be done.” said Bloxham.

“We want to try to go as far as possible as well now and they’ve given hope to many Essex Senior League teams by showing what can be done.

"We have already beaten some very good teams in this competition so hopefully we can do it again but we’ll be taking it round by round.”

And, whatever the outcome, Bloxham will be remaining upbeat.

“I’m very proud of the season so far,” said the boss.

“The boys bounced back from first game of season when we lost 5-0 to Waltham Forest and since then these boys haven’t looked back.

"Everyone at the club has stuck together on and off the pitch so it’s moving forward and winning Saturday would just give the whole club another massive boost.”
