RUNDOWN: Canvey Island will be looking to get back to winning ways after being thumped at Worthing in midweek.

The Gulls were 5-0 down by half time and although Danny Heale’s side held on for a second half clean sheet, the damage had already been done.

Canvey were looking to build on the impressive 1-0 win over Dulwich Hamlet last weekend.

A late Steve Sheehan effort resulted in Canvey registering an unlikely double over the promotion hopefuls.

But the heavy defeat in West Sussex saw Canvey plummet back down to earth.

Harrow Borough are only three points above the Gulls and should Heale’s side win all three points, they could climb out of the relegation zone.

MANAGER’S VIEW: Gulls boss Danny Heale said: “Against Worthing I think that we have come up against a good side in good form.

“They were on the front foot from the start and we couldn’t deal with them for 45 minutes.

“But the games are coming thick and fast and the second half gave me a bit of optimism going into the game against Harrow Borough.”

TEAM NEWS: Defender George Allen came on for his Canvey debut, following his move from Welling United, in the heavy defeat to Worthing.

The defender could be in line for his first start for the Gulls.

Ryan Blackman will be available for the trip to Harrow Borough despite being shown a straight red card on Tuesday.

Blackman’s three match suspension will see him miss clashes with Leiston, Bognor Regis Town and Burgess Hill Town.
