RUNDOWN: A late penalty which infuriated Billericay boss Craig Edwards cost Town a point at league leaders Bognor Regis Town last week.

Town were going for a fourth straight win after victories over Brightlingsea Regent, Canvey Island and Tonbridge Angels.

But now, after last week’s defeat and the Essex Senior Cup loss to Tilbury, Edwards’ side will travel to Leiston on the back of two straight defeats.

Tilbury won the quarter-final tie 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, and Edwards will be looking for a reaction.

Leiston will be a tough test, however, as they currently sit fifth in the Ryman Premier standings, while Town are 11 points adrift of their hosts, in 14th place.

MANAGER’S VIEW: Town manager Craig Edwards: “It is probably one of the toughest games we will have this season.

“We did better at Bognor last week, where we were robbed.

“Hopefully we can put on a better performance there and see where that takes us.

“There is a possibility that another lad could come in this week before the game against Leiston.”

TEAM NEWS: Billericay Town will be without new signing Rob Swaine.

The defender has returned to New Lodge for a third spell, but the ex-Bromley man will miss the next three games.
