CONCORD Rangers came back from losing positions three times to secure a share of the points against Oxford City.

Steve Cawley hit two penalties to ensure it ended 3-3, as Oxford failed to close out the match.

Oxford had eight points on Concord ahead of play but both were in need of the points in a continued bid to secure National League South status for next season.

Former Billericay Town striker Mike Fondop was causing problems for the home defence with his movement and it was little surprise that he scored the first goal of the afternoon.

Fondop did well to evade several challenges after 25 minutes and shot high beyond goalkeeper Bailey Vose.

The Beach Boys almost hit back immediately only to see an assistant referee’s flag halt any celebrations, but four minutes later they were level.

Cawley crossed and Lyle Della-Verde got in front of his man to equalise.

Fondop should have done better when presented with another chance before the break but just five minutes into the second half Oxford were once again ahead.

Matt Peake-Pijnen was played in and he hammered the visitors back in front.

But the lead was short-lived. A penalty was awarded to the hosts and Cawley slid the ball past the stopper to level.

However, Oxford took the lead for a third time less than 10 minutes later.

The ball was nicked off Steve King and Stephan Ngamvoulou crashed a shot low into the corner.

But another penalty was to save Concord, with Cawley again composed enough to make it 3-3 with 10 minutes remaining.

And that was how it stayed in the end.
