DYNAMIC midfielder Tambeson Eyong says all he cares about is winning as he aims to guide Billericay Town to promotion this season.

The powerful 26-year-old made the move from Canvey Island to New Lodge last week, and is set to become a key cog in manager Craig Edwards’ new-look team.

Eyong has lost and drawn in his first two appearances for Billericay, but is determined to put that right when Dulwich Hamlet visit in the Ryman Premier League this weekend.

And he says he doesn’t feel any more pressure to succeed at Billericay than Canvey, despite the big-money signings brought in in recent weeks.

“I don’t feel the pressure but there is always pressure,” he said. “You should play your first game like your last game, regardless of the team.

“It doesn’t matter where you are in the league as you are always fighting to get somewhere. We will have to see where we are come the end of the season and believe.

“I have only been here a week so far but it is a very good squad and certainly good enough to get in the play-offs this year or win promotion next season.”

Dulwich currently occupy the last play-off spot, having accrued 11 more points that Billericay to date.

But Eyong remains confident of a result, having been told by Edwards that he sees him playing in a number of positions for the remainder of the campaign.

“We trained last night and I know we have a game plan to beat Dulwich,” he said. “I know how to get the better of them and we are confident of getting a result.

“I spoke to Craig a few weeks before and I said I was happy at Canvey but then he told me a bit about the club’s plans and ambitions and we went from there.

“Craig sees me as someone that can play in a number of positions and he said he wants me to play anywhere. I just want to win.”

And Eyong also had a parting message for Canvey.

“Canvey is a very good club who always looked after me,” he said. “I don’t have a bad word to say about them.

“It is a really good group of boys and with a bit of luck they will be fine.”
