SOUTH Woodham Ferrers will be looking to revitalise their promotion push this weekend, with a little help from former England international Andy Goode.

Second placed Woodham host Epping Upper Clapton in London Two North East keen to bounce back from last Saturday’s 25-18 defeat at Woodford.

But they head into the clash with words of wisdom from Goode who took Woodham for a training session on Tuesday night.

First team manager Jack Kershaw said: “Training on Tuesday was intense, Andy Goode came down and did some kicking and backs coaching while Tony Woods drilled the forwards who put in a 100 per cent for the whole session.

“Thursday was another great session on the training paddock with the lads looking sharp and prepared for Saturday.'

“But tomorrow is going to be a difficult fixture, similar to last Saturday.

“We are yet to play Epping this season due to pitch issues but they also had a very convincing win last weekend.”

Woodham head into the game 10 points behind table-topping Diss with two games in hand.

And head coach Tony Woods is demanding an improved display.

“We need to respond from Saturday at Woodford,” said Woods.

“We need to send a message to Diss at the top and the teams in third and fourth trying to catch us by winning convincingly at home to Epping and set the tone of how we want to play for the rest of the season.

“Training has been great this weekend, we welcomed a new player to our squad and the competitive nature of the club is proven as the two’s head to Rochford tomorrow where James Rawlinson will make his first appearance for the club and James Wilson will return from injury which is great to see.”

Woodham will again be without Sammy Sharp this weekend.
