BILLERICAY Town manager Craig Edwards admitted that he was ‘disappointed’ to see his side’s Ryman Premier clash with Dulwich Hamlet postponed.
Frost covers had been on the New Lodge pitch overnight, but the referee deemed the pitch unplayable at 1:30pm.
Edwards understood the referee’s decision.
The Town boss said: “I was disappointed but I couldn’t argue with the referee calling the game off.
“Basically the whole pitch was fine and the goalmouth at the far end was fine but the two areas just outside the penalty area was icy and frozen.
“If the referee had given the go ahead I would have been happy but I understood why he called it off.
“It was disappointing because we would have got our biggest gate of the season.
“It was a beautiful winter’s day but we have an area of the pitch which doesn’t get the sun because of the trees.”
