FRAME football is the latest addition to the Basildon Soccability Academy.

The sessions take place every other Saturday.

And coach Steve Branch has been delighted by the popularity of the sessions.

“My son Callum plays for the team which is why I set it up in the first place and we have between 12 to 16 children coming along most weeks now,” said Branch.

“Callum was originally playing in the other Soccability sessions and everyone always made sure he was included but being the only one in a frame made it difficult.

“He couldn’t be involved as much as the other children so when the opportunity came up to start up a frame football team it was a no brainer.

“It’s proved to be really popular and we’re really pleased with how it’s been going and how many children have been coming down to play.”

More than 30 teams have now been set up in the UK while sides have also been created in Brazil, Canada, Poland, Romania and Malta due to the sport’s increasing popularity.

And Branch has found the football hugely beneficial for everyone involved.

“The kids all love it and all the parents can’t believe how much of a difference it makes to them as well,” said Branch.

“The children are far more confident in life and at school and I think it makes a difference to the parents too.

“We’re all together, we all have a child in a frame so we can all relate which is a lovely feeling to have.

“We go to national tournaments and it’s nice for us to spend some time together.”

Right now, the coaching sessions are available for youngsters aged between three and 16.

But plans are in place to soon start catering for adult players.
