ROB Swaine insists Billericay Town will not be taking Harrow Borough for granted tomorrow.

Town are slowly clicking into gear after a period of readjustment following the club’s takeover in December.

Following an inconsistent run of results, Town are now four unbeaten and have won the last three in all competitions to climb to 12th in the Ryman Premier League.

And Swaine, now in his third spell at the club, wants to close the gap on the play-off places with victory against Harrow – who are just three points outside the relegation positions.

“We are going into it full of belief and I would like to think we will win,” said Swaine, who has won both matches he has played since his return.

“We won’t take them for granted. I don’t know much about Harrow in honesty but I know we have been inconsistent against them in the past and it is time to change that.”

Swaine came through the youth system before departing although returned to help Billericay lift the Ryman Premier League in 2012.

Following relegation the following season, Swaine joined Bromley and led them into the top tier of non-league football.

But now he is back, he is excited at the club’s prospects and working alongside Joe Ellul, another defender who has returned to the club after securing promotion elsewhere – in Ellul’s case at East Thurrock United.

“I can tell Joe is a good player,” he said. “He is dominant in the air and he told me he is quick although I haven’t seen that yet!

“He has been successful at this level and is a no-nonsense defender like me.

“In terms of what has changed, I know (manager) Craig (Edwards) and his assistants but the club is changing all the time,” added Swaine.

“Nothing is different in terms of the clubhouse and the pitch but there are improvements and it can only be a good thing.

“Billericay is a club on the up. I have met (owner) Glenn (Tamplin) and I can tell from speaking to him that he wants what is best for this club.”

Swaine expects to be fit after he was substituted during Tuesday’s 7-0 win at Worthing with a stomach bug.
