BILLERICAY Town survived a late fightback from Harrow Borough to make it four victories in a row.

Billy Bricknell scored a first-half brace to make it 2-0, and, despite a late fight-back, the hosts held on to keep up their good recent form.

Town handed a debut to striker Adam Cunnington, and the rangy striker was heavily involved in the first goal of the afternoon.

Just five minutes had been played when Lewis Taaffe’s cross was flicked onwards by Cunnington and Bricknell volleyed home at the far post.

But against the run of play Harrow had a golden chance to draw level.

Kreshnic Krasniqi clipped the heels of the Harrow striker, albeit after what appeared to be a handball by the forward.

Up stepped Sahr Kabba but Jack Giddens sprung to his right to push the ball past the post.

Giddens was again the scourge of Kabba 10 minutes before the interval. The forward was played through but Giddens spread himself superbly to block.

Five minutes before half-time came a flash point. Lewis Driver appeared to go over the ball in a challenge with Rob Swaine but, despite protestations, only a yellow card was shown.

But from the resultant free-kick, Swaine headed into the path of Bricknell who flicked home with the outside of his boot.

It should have been game over with two minutes of the second-half played.

Krasniqi played in Cunnington who beat two men but then rolled his shot wide of the near post, with Matt Johnson screaming for the ball alongside him.

But the away side were not giving up without a fight. Swaine cleared an effort off the line while Bricknell was only prevented a hat-trick by a fine reaction save up the other end.

Joe Ellul had an excellent header cleared off the line while Abs Seymour was brilliantly kept out by Brendan Hazlett’s sprawling save.

But a contentious refereeing decision gave Harrow a chance. A second penalty was awarded with 10 minutes remaining, although Ellul appeared to win the ball clean.

And Josh Webb sent Giddens the wrong way from 12 yards.

Bricknell was again prevented a treble by Hazlett, with the striker then seeing an effort blocked on the goal-line.

But it wasn't to matter, as Billericay took the win.
