C&K Basildon Ladies will be favourites to claim a third Essex County Cup title in succession after they ran riot against Writtle to book their place in the final.

Steve Tilson’s team ran out 8-0 winners, with Angela Addison making it back-to-back hat-tricks in the competition after her quarter-final treble against Hutton.

Sara Sinclair scored a brace, with Stacey Little, Amy Nash and Zoe Rushen also on target.

In a repeat of last season’s final, it took just eight minutes for Addison to open her account, when she controlled Karissa Rodney’s cross on the edge of the penalty area, before turning and sending a shot past the home goalkeeper.

Ten minutes later, Little combined well with Nash on the left flank, before the former sent in a dangerous near post cross which found its way straight into the net.

Rushen and Aysha Bentick came close while, just before the half hour mark, Nikita Runnacles saved well at the feet of a Writtle forward.

Basildon pulled further ahead four minutes before half-time - Sinclair controlling Nash’s cross before turning and volleying the ball past the goalkeeper.

And the tie was effectively over when Addison added her second goal of the afternoon a minute later.

It could have been worse before the interval but Rushen’s penalty struck the outside of the post.

Basildon’s fifth goal came after 54 minutes, when Nash collected a low cross on the edge of the penalty area, and struck into the top corner of the net.

Addison completed her hat trick after 66 minutes, collecting Rushen’s pass, cutting inside and sending in a shot that the goalkeeper got a hand to, but couldn’t keep out of the net.

Runnacles made another save at the feet of a Writtle forward, before her quick throw launched a Basildon counter attack.

And this ended with Sinclair steering Rushen’s cross over the line for her second goal of the afternoon.

Rushen completed the rout with four minutes remaining to set up a repeat of the 2014-15 final against Billericay Town.

Billericay book spot in county cup final

BILLERICAY Town Ladies manager Kim Coster said she was thrilled after her team secured their place in the Essex County Cup final.

Town defeated Little Thurrock Dynamos 4-1 at New Lodge to secure a place in the final, with Rosi Webb, Paris Smith and a Lindsay Morgan brace earning their place in the showpiece occasion.

“We weren’t at our best but managed to seal a place in the final,” said Coster. “LTD put in a spirited performance and certainly gave us a run for our money. But we are thrilled to get through to the final.”

However, LTD scored first against the run of play, with Billericay guilty of ball-watching as the ball nestled in the net after 18 minutes.

Billericay levelled in the 26th minute. Sally Appleton’s long ball forward found Smith whose pinpoint low cross into the box picked out Webb who scored.

The scores remained level at the break and at the start of the second-half both teams continued to nullify each others attacking threat but Billericay edged in front with 20 minutes to go.

The hosts were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box and a well worked routine saw Morgan play the ball short to Hayley Piggott, and her cross into the box was met by Smith who powered home emphatically.

And they ran away with the result in the final 10 minutes - with Morgan’s brace making sure of the result and putting a slightly flattering touch on the scoreline.
