GARON Park Golf Club clinched an impressive home victory over Belfairs Golf Club in the first round of the Ladies Daily Mail National Foursomes competition.

Sonia Mundy and Debbie Wood, who represented the Southend-based golf club in the contest, came away with an impressive six and four win.

The duo are now looking forward to the next round of the popular competition.

Meanwhile, Eileen Robertson came out on top in Garon Park’s Ladies section stableford for February.

Helen Williams and Carol Crowhurst picked up second and third place respectively.

Danny Lovett triumphed in the golf club’s men’s weekday stableford after scoring an excellent 45 points.

Barry Fogg came second having accumulated 39 points.

A total of 37 points was enough to see Pat Taylor secure third place in the contest.

A large field also turned out for the club’s monthly bogey.

Russ Dunmore was confirmed as the winner of the competition on five up, ahead of David Gowers and Des Tallon who finished on four up and three up respectively.

Max Evans pipped Bryan Bone to weekend medal victory on countback after both finished level on net 65, while Andy Burn took third place with net 67.
