ECHOSPORT chats to Gillingham fan Henry Collier ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Southend United.

What have you made of the season so far?

“It’s been a real disappointment.

“After a strong opening month with good form in the league and a cup win at Watford all was looking good however since then we’ve pretty much been in a decline and now haven’t won in 11 games and sit dangerously close to the bottom.

“Justin Edinburgh left and Ady Pennock has come in but the form hasn’t improved and he is still waiting for his first win.”

Gillingham started the season with two 3-1 wins against Southend United and looked quite strong. What has gone wrong since then?

“Jay Emmanuel Thomas, who was a real key figure in both of those games, didn’t really reach those heights after but it comes down to the defence as well.

“We have only had two clean sheets in the league all season.

“We’ve lacked an experienced centre half all season to organise the defence. We are still missing someone of that mould at the back.”

What are the hopes for the rest of the season now?

“To stay up. We’ve had a run of games against teams around us and not won a single one of them.

There isn’t much optimism around the place at the moment and many can see us continuing to slide down the table.”

What Gills player should Blues be most wary of?

“Bradley Dack. League One player of the year last year but has struggled to reach those heights this season. However, recent performances seem to show him being back to his best.”

What’s the team news ahead of the game?

“Deji Oshilaja and Bradley Garmston both went off injured on Tuesday so both will be out.

"Aaron Morris has been out all season too and probably won’t be back until pre season.

"Paul Konchesky was near ever present under Justin Edinburgh but has struggled to make the squad under Pennock.

"However, with injury problems at the back he may be drafted back in.”

What’s the expected starting line-up: Nelson, Jackson, Herd, Ehmer, Konchesky, Wagstaff, Wright, Dack, Martin, Parker, Donnelly
