BILLERICAY Town are expected to announce the signing of former Premier League midfielder Jamie O’Hara tonight.

The Echo understands the 30-year-old ex-Tottenham Hotspur player will be the latest to join Glenn Tamplin’s Billericay revolution, following the arrival of former England defender Paul Konchesky earlier this month.

Although refusing to name O’Hara, Tamplin confirmed the new signing is a former Spurs midfielder, would be unveiled at tonight’s fans forum and would be in the squad to face Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday.

“I am very excited for the fans to meet our latest signing,” said Tamplin. “The next two weeks are very important for the club and I am very happy with the squad we have.”

O’Hara was named by supporters on social media yesterday, while he has recently followed the club, striker Billy Bricknell and Tamplin on Twitter.

The midfielder has played 214 professional games, also playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers - who paid £5 million for him in 2011 - along with Millwall, Portsmouth and Fulham.

The former FA Cup finalist started the season at League One Gillingham, but only made two substitute appearances.

Currently without a club, O’Hara has recently been making headlines off the pitch after a stint on popular TV show Celebrity Big Brother.

The new signing will be revealed at tonight’s fans forum, with fans invited to discuss the future of the club at New Lodge from 7.30pm.

Tamplin confirmed the ground would be called The AGP Arena next season, in association with his steel firm, with the the reveal of the club’s new crest also taking place tonight.
