MASON Law admitted he was disappointed after his second round showing in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 series at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit over the Easter weekend.

The series rookie from Benfleet, 21, improved his grid position from race one to race two, making up places in both outings as he continues his sharp learning curve following his step up to the class.

He now sits in 10th place in the standings after 13th and 11th place finishes with his Stauff Connect Academy Kawasaki team.

But Law, who rides a ZX-10RR, said he expected to do better.

“I am obviously disappointed with the results but not overly unhappy with the weekend as we made an unexpected set-up change for morning warm-up and it helped massively in both races,” he said.

“Although not in the leading group I managed to pass quite a few experienced riders and felt I was lapping at similar times to the leaders. I need to improve on my qualifying place as Brands Indy is a tough track to make up places, so seventh and fifth row starts were also going to make things difficult.

“What we have learned this weekend plus the set-up improvement can only help us next week at the Oulton park round.

“I’ve settled into the GR Motosport team really well and am now looking forward to the rest of the season with them.

“I believe we have a top six place on the cards this season, so we now need to qualify well at Oulton so we can run nearer the front and challenge for the top positions.”

Law’s friend and rival Danny Buchan, formerly of Basildon, enjoyed a successful round.

Having won on the opening weekend, Buchan finished runner-up in the first race and came fifth after that.
