CHARLIE Jobling is adamant Westcliff’s clash at Hertford is not a dead rubber this weekend.

Tomorrow’s game will see seventh placed Westcliff complete their National Three London & SE season.

And Jobling believes there is still plenty for them to play for.

“Hertford still have third place to play for and we are also determined to finish in the top half of the table which we have earned through our performances,” said Jobling “Results depending we could up in ninth which we don’t think would reflect the season we’ve had so there definitely won’t be any issues getting up for this game because it’s one we really want to get something from.”

However, second row Jobling is expecting a tricky test against a Hertford team who head into the game sitting in fourth.

“Its going to be tough, they’re a decent outfit who are going to want to finish the season strongly at their patch,” said Jobling.

“With it also being the last game of the season both teams will be going all out to get the win so I’m expecting a very physical and fast game but it’s one we’re looking forward to.”

Westcliff will also head into the clash full of confidence after beating Sutton & Epsom 36-15 in their last outing.

And Jobling has been delighted with his first season at the Gables.

“I’ve personally really enjoyed this season,” said Jobling.

“With it being my first season here I can’t go on past years but there’s a good vibe about this season.

“Despite a couple of hiccups through the season we have definitely grown as a team each week and you can’t ask for much more than that.”

But Jobling is still keen for more success and is also chasing more tries as he looks to end the campaign as the club’s top try scorer.

“I have been very fortunate with the tries at the back end of this season but I have been on the end of a lot of well worked team tries so I can’t take all the credit,” said Jobling “It’s been very pleasing and I think I’m level on seven with Ross Merrick now so it’s all to play for this weekend.”
