SOUTHEND & EMT will be gunning for their first ever Premier League win when they host Colchester tomorrow.

Southend, who were promoted from Division One last season, have started the campaign with a defeat and a draw.

And skipper Joe Robbins is now hoping for a case of third time lucky as his side travel to Castle Park.

“Sixteen points from two games has been an OK start for us so the lads feel comfortable with the league and playing at this level but we now need to kick on and start picking up some wins,” said Robbins.

“However, Colchester are another established Premier League side.

“They’ve won one and lost one so far, but at home they are very difficult to beat, so it will be tough.

“But we look forward to going there looking for our first win.”

Southend drew with Chingford last time out, with Robbins disappointed not to have won.

This weekend his side will be without Alex Karkoski, Dale Hackney and Ben Wathen.

However, Matt Wagstaff, Joe Sibbons and Aaron Butcher are all able to return.

Southend head into the game sitting second from bottom in the early standings, just one place and two points below Colchester.

In Division One, Hadleigh & Thundersley are also second from bottom and still searching for their first win of the campaign.

Their scheduled clash with Billericay was washed out last weekend.

And skipper Richard Revell is keen for his side to produce a strong performance at third placed Harold Wood this weekend.

“It was disappointing having the game called off last week and missing out on potential points but we need to put that behind us now,” said Revell.

“A couple of the lads are back at university now so selection was difficult this week.

“But I’m confident we have a team strong enough to pick up our first win of the season away at Harold Wood.”

Billericay have also yet to triumph in Division One this season and are currently the only team below Hadleigh in the table.

This weekend, Billericay host sixth placed South Woodford eager to come out on top.

Belhus currently top the table and they will be looking to continue their good start to the season at fourth placed Harlow this weekend.

Eighth placed Orsett & Thurrock are also in action away from home as they travel to Woodford Wells, who are currently fifth in the table.
