GLENN Tamplin says he has assembled ‘the world’s great non-league football team’ and has promised the Ryman Premier League title next year after unveiling his latest raft of star names.

Tamplin has recruited six more new faces, following the addition of Matt Paine last week – with all dropping down at least one tier of the pyramid to link up with Billericay’s talented squad.

Four midfielders have joined the squad – former Wrexham man Robbie Evans, Welling United pair Dan Walker and Danny Waldren and Dover’s Ricky Modeste.

Wealdstone’s Josh Urquhart bolsters the defence and Chelmsford City’s Louie Theophanous provides another striking option.

And Tamplin is hugely excited at his side’s prospects.

“The biggest thing we have done is made sure we have bought consistent players,” he said. “Each will put in a shift every week.

“Then we have the likes of Waldren, Evans and Paine who are captains and leaders. If you add to the seven or eight leaders we already have that is very exciting, especially as they are coming from two levels above.

“The energy is amazing,” he said. “They are all good people and I spoke to three times this amount of players. Some of them may have been better players but I didn’t like their beliefs or values so I didn’t sign them.

“This group believe in where the club is going.”

Tamplin said the club’s wage bill was now up to £25,000 a week, including the exciting additions of former Leyton Orient manager Ian Hendon as Director of Football and MMA fighter Neil Grove as the club’s nutritionist and sports scientist.

“All the new players have met each other and the new members of backroom staff,” he said.

“They have all been measured, weighed, including their body mass index and body fat, and all have been given targets to reach by July 1. Otherwise it will come out of their wages.

“We will win the league next season.”
