EAST Thurrock United ran out 4-2 winners against Canvey Island in their latest pre-season friendly.

It was a well contested opening, with Max Cornhill drilling just wide for East Thurrock and David Knight flicking narrowly over for the hosts.

Cornhill headed the opener in trademark style, getting on the end of a Reece Harris corner to hand Rocks the lead.

Canvey introduced Callum Ibe at half time and within two minutes he had brought parity, winning the ball on the edge of the box and sliding the ball beyond replacement goalkeeper Bryce Billington.

David Knight brought an excellent save from Billington, who then picked out Femi Akinwande on the break to restore Rocks’ lead.

Ibe struck the woodwork before Rocks stretched their advantage.

Cornhill scored from long range, with substitute Harry Honesty adding a fourth.

A trialist halved arrears as it ended 4-2.

Concord Rangers visited Isthmian Premier League outfit Tonbridge Angels, conceding two late goals to draw 2-2.

The Beach Boys were ahead inside 15 minutes, Jason Williams netting his first goal in Concord colours.

The home team saw several penalty shouts waved away, with Kyron Farrell doubling the advantage in the second period.

Tonbridge missed a penalty before Nathan Elder grabbed a goal back for Angels.

And Dan Thompson netted a second to level the scores.

Bowers & Pitsea took on a Dagenham & Redbridge second string at the Len Salmon Stadium, the game ending 1-1.

Elliot Romain was the brightest spark in the first period, although he couldn’t find a way through for the Daggers.

It was little surprise that when the goal came it was Romain who scored it, glancing home a cross from Robbie Rees.

A trialist levelled the match and that was how it stayed.
