BOWERS & Pitsea welcome Witham Town tonight in a bid to match their excellent opening day win at Aveley.
Rob Small’s charges were 3-1 winners at Parkside in Aveley’s first match at their new home.
A trio of headers from Lewis Manor (2) and Fahad Nyanja gave Bowers the points, while Witham conceded a last minute goal to go down 2-1 at home against Potters Bar Town.
And Small says it will be a tough match.
“Witham are a very tough opponent and they boast some of the most exciting attacking players in the league,” he said.
“They will come to us and ask a lot of questions, of our back three in particular.
“Mentally, the challenge for us is to approach the game with the same appetite as we did on Saturday.”
Bowers will be looking to end a wretched run of form against Witham.
Despite finishing in sixth last year, Bowers lost 5-1 and 5-2 to Witham and were beaten 4-0 by the Essex outfit in the FA Cup in 2014.
Bowers have no injury concerns ahead of the match, although Ryan Mallett remains sidelined as he continues to serve a ban from last season.
