REFEREE

Dean Whitestone (Northamptonshire) Whitestone has shown eight yellow cards in his opening three games of the season but has yet to issue a red card.

Whitestone last officiated a Blues game in February 2017, when they were beaten 2-1 at Gillingham.

Blues boss Phil Brown was hugely critical of the referee’s performance after the game as he awarded Gills a penalty and also sent off centre-back Ryan Inniss.

Whitestone also took charge of Southend’s 3-1 win against Coventry City last season as well as their 3-1 defeat to Gillingham on the opening day of the season.
