SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has admitted to being impressed by former England international Carlton Cole - but he will not be deciding on the striker’s future until the end of the week.

Cole trained with the Shrimpers’ first team yesterday.

And Brown was pleased with what he saw.

“I have to say I thought Carlton looked the part,” said the Shrimpers boss.

“Yesterday was the first time he was with the first team and he looked good.

“But we won’t be making a decision on him until the end of the week.”

Cole, 33, has returned to England after a spell playing in Indonesia.

He is best remembered for his spell for West Ham and also won seven caps for England.
