BASILDON United, Hullbridge Sports and Great Wakering Rovers all won to progress to the first round of the FA Vase.

The Bees needed extra-time to overcome Walsham-le-Willows, with Great Wakering also edging to victory.

Hullbridge were comfortable 3-0 winners in their tie against Ilford.

The Bees were dealt a blow early on when Matt Brinklow went off injured but they were to take the lead before the break.

His replacement Ash Blackburn opened the scoring to hand Basildon the advantage.

Walsham-le-Willows, who had been knocked out of the FA Cup at the Stuart Bingham Stadium earlier this season, levelled in the second-half as the match went to extra-time.

And it was Basildon who were to earn the victory. Marcus Bowers scored the winner with five minutes of extra-time remaining.

Hullbridge were comfortable 3-0 winners against Ilford as they booked their place in round one.

Sports made the early running and forged ahead after 10 minutes.

A scramble in the box resulted in player/manager Rob Hodgson getting the final touch.

And early in the second-half the lead was doubled. Jimmy Cox’s free-kick was on the money and Lewis Watson headed into the corner.

Luka Frankis scored a penalty with 15 minutes remaining to wrap up the result.

Great Wakering were 2-1 winners against Essex Senior League leaders West Essex.

Rovers were given an early boost when West Essex were reduced to 10 men, following a foul in the penalty area.

And Jake Gordon made no mistake from 12 yards.

A close range header pegged Rovers back only for Neil Richmond to score a second for the hosts midway through the half.

And that was how it stayed.
