SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has made five changes to his starting line-up for this afternoon’s clash at Wigan Athletic.
Jason Demeriou has been selected at right-back on his return from international duty while John White has replaced the injured Harry Kyprianou at the heart of the back where he will be partnered by Ryan Leonard.
Leonard – who will also captain the team - drops back from his usual midfield role to take the place of the suspended Anton Ferdinand meaning Dru Yearwood has come back into the side.
The other two changes come out wide where Jermaine McGlashan and Theo Robinson have been recalled in place of Stephen McLaughlin and Simon Cox as the Shrimpers opt to start in a 4-5-1 formation.
However, there is no place in the squad for Michael Turner who boss Brown had hinted could be involved after recovering from a hamstring problem.
Southend United: Oxley, Demetriou, White, Leonard, Timlin, Yearwood, Wright, Wordsworth, Robinson, Ranger, McGlashan Subs: Bishop, Hendrie, Fortune, Cox, McLaughlin, Matsuzaka & Bwomono
