FA Cup fourth qualifying round

A LAST-GASP goal denied Billericay Town victory as they drew a hugely entertaining clash 3-3 at Brackley Town.

Adam Cunnington’s brace and a goal from Louie Theophanous looked as though it would be enough for Billericay, but 10-man Brackley levelled minutes from the end to make it all square.

The away side were facing a team that had reached the first round three times in the last four seasons, and they got off to the worst possible start.

Shane Byrne’s header found Aaron Williams all alone and he slid the ball home.

Billericay were growing into the tie, although efforts from Paul Konchesky and Billy Bricknell were straight into the arms of the goalkeeper.

But the Saints remained on top, Glenn Walker blasting wide following a neat move.

Alan Julian had been helpless to stop Billericay going behind, but the goalkeeper had to be at his best to keep out Lee Ndlovu three minutes before half-time.

It was a moment of madness handed Billericay a route back into the match. Alex Gudger was dismissed for a stamp on Cunnington, with the hosts reduced to 10 men.

And 60 seconds after the break the away side were level. Cunnington drifted to the back post and headed home an equaliser.

But Brackley were still creating good opportunities. Byrne and Adam Walker had chances to put the hosts back in front before the visitors struck.

Substitutes Jake Robinson and Theophanous combined, with the latter sprinting through to slide into the net.

Brackley drew level through Walker but 60 seconds later Billericay were back in the ascendency.

Cunnington got on the end of a cross to score his 11th of the season, but even then the drama wasn’t done.

Byrne scored as the clock ticked into injury-time, as both teams prepare to do it all over again on Tuesday.
