CONCORD Rangers were comfortable winners against Wivenhoe Town as they look to regain their grip on the Essex Senior Cup they won three times between 2014 and 2016.

A strong Beach Boys side won 6-0, with Ben Greenhalgh opening the scoring on 12 minutes with a free-kick.

Adam Topley doubled the advantage eight minutes later, with Steve King adding a third late in the half.

A second for Greenhalgh in the second half was added to by two goals from captain Steve Cawley to complete a good evening’s work.

Canvey Island eased through against Saffron Walden Town, winning 5-0.

In the Essex Senior League, Great Wakering Rovers survived a late fight-back to see off Hullbridge Sports 3-2.

It took 15 minutes for Rovers to go ahead, Neil Richmond continuing his good form in front of goal.

Billy Johnson added a second soon after, with an own goal piling on the woe for the hosts.

But Sports dug in after the break and came close to taking something from the encounter.

Jamie Buffin scored twice in the final 17 minutes to make it interesting, but it came slightly too late to change the outcome.
