BASILDON surged to the top of the London Three Essex standings after fighting back from 13-0 down to win 33-21 at Campion.
The victory was Basildon’s fifth in six games and pleased forwards coach Kris Chesney.
“We were well tested in a real arm wrestle of a game but with a strong bench able to come on and impact like they did, once we got control, we scored some really well-worked tries,” said Chesney.
“It’s another good win for us.”
After a bright start from Campion, Basildon hit back with a penalty try which cut Campion’s lead to 13-7 at half-time.
Campion kicked a penalty at the start of the second period before Basildon replied with two tries from Daniel Rowley which were both converted by Sam Ridley.
Moments later, Levi Caulson also touched down before Elliott Keefe’s try sealed another success for Basildon despite Campion bagging a late try of their own.
