GREAT Wakering Rovers boss Iain O’Connell is targeting more of the same when they do battle with Hullbridge Sports for the second time in less than two weeks tomorrow.

Rovers welcome Sports in the Essex Senior League, just 11 days after they won 3-2 at Lower Road.

However, Sports have appointed a new manager in that time, with Darren Manning taking the helm.

Manning lose his first game in charge on Wednesday night, while Rovers edged out FC Romania in the FA Vase - Aaron Russell on target again.

And O’Connell has called on his players to show Hullbridge the respect they deserve.

“It is weird as we have Hullbridge again in a few weeks in one of the cups as well,” he said. “We played them recently and were 3-0 up but took our foot off the gas and we didn’t show them the respect they deserved.

“They have a new manager and Darren will get them going and the players will want to prove their worth to him.

“We have to make sure we do what we do and give it our all.”

Sports are without Luka Frankis, Charlie Gerada and Kieran Offord, although Manning has signed Kurtis Clarke, Ashley Pibworth, Russell Harley and Sam Kimmence.

Basildon United were beaten by Southend Manor last time out as they relinquished top spot to Redbridge.

A home clash against Ilford is the next test, with the visitors to the Ho Ho Stadium fresh from a 3-1 win against Hullbridge.

Bees remain two points off top but, with games in hand for chasing Takeley, they know the importance of three points.

Southend Manor have hit form under temporary manager Adam Peek, winning back-to-back away matches in the league.

They host Tower Hamlets tomorrow, hoping to close the gap on the Londoners to three points.

Although Peek will be without attacker Jamie Brown (suspended) as well as Jacob Cleaver, Nathan Dewberry, Robbie Norris and Micky Hopkins (injured).

Alfie Lindfield and Jamie Alexandrou are likely to return.
