SOUTHEND United’s Harry Seaden has spoken of his pride after adding to his international caps.

The highly-rated shot-stopper started for England under 17s in their 3-2 win against Portugal.

And Seaden was delighted to again represent his country.

“It’s always a proud moment for me and for my family as well when I play for England and this was no different,” said Seaden.

“The set up is top class and I really enjoy being part of the team as well because of the way we play.

“I played in the first of the three matches and we ended up winning the mini-tournament so it was great to be a part of it all.”

Seaden has now won nine caps for his country and hopes to receive another call-up in February.

“We have a tournament in the Algarve in February and I would love to be part of that,” said the Rayleigh based 16-year-old.

“The season has been going well for me so far and it’s been a great experience to have played for Southend’s under 23 side and to also have trained with the first team.

“I’ve really enjoyed it but I need to keep working hard to push on even further and improve my game.”

However, Seaden - who has been with Blues since the age of 13 - only actually became a goalkeeper by chance while attending the FitzWimarc School.

“We were playing football in the playground and I just went in goal one time and enjoyed it,” said Seaden, “I’ve stayed in goal ever since and it’s gone quite well since then too.”
