BILLERICAY Town were made to battle for the points at Harlow Town as three goals in the final 12 minutes saw Glenn Tamplin’s team return to form.

Goals from Sanchez Watt, Jake Robinson, Adam Cunnington and Louie Theophanous saw Billericay over the line, against an inspired performance from Hawks stopper David Hughes.

Having been humbled by Leatherhead in the week, Billericay needed a response in the league.

Eight changes from Thursday’s defeat, the visitors nearly forced an early breakthrough.

Billy Bricknell was excellently kept out by Hughes, with Robbie Evans’ follow-up straight at the former East Thurrock United stopper.

Hughes kept out Matt Paine and Sam Deering as the struggling Hawks continued to frustrate Billericay.

And, after Nick Wheeler was kept out twice, Harlow opened the scoring against the odds.

An Andrea Mayasi free-kick missed everyone and nestled inside Alan Julian’s post.

But they weren’t to lead for long. New signings Wheeler and Watt combined, with the latter climbing highest to nod down and in on 28 minutes.

Hughes had to be at his best to block Bricknell’s powerful drive and the second half was to follow a similar pattern.

The bar was rattled by Dean Inman before a boost for Billericay. Ibrahima Sonko was dismissed for two yellow cards only for the momentum to swing again.

Junior Dadson stormed through for Harlow with 25 minutes to play and slotted well past Julian.

Robinson and Theophanous were thrown on as Town bid to save the game and the change was to bear fruit.

Robinson hammered a 22nd goal of the season into the top corner from the penalty spot with 14 minutes remaining.

And fellow substitute Theophanous was involved in the fifth goal of the game – his centre slid home by Cunnington.

Theophanous added a fourth late on as Billericay finally got over the line.
