BILLY Bricknell says he has plenty more goals in the tank after taking his tally to 20 for the season as Billericay Town booked their place in the Essex Senior Cup semi-finals.

The striker started his first match since November 20 against Harlow Town on Tuesday night.

And he was on target twice, with captain Dean Inman also netting, to send Billericay into the last four.

And Bricknell, who has never won the Essex Senior Cup, says he is pleased to be back involved after a frustrating spell.

“I have been in and around the team for a little while now but we have had games called off and we didn’t train much over Christmas either,” said the forward.

“Getting minutes was the main thing against Harlow and although I have come on in the last three games there is nothing like starting.

“We wanted a clean sheet against Harlow and we always look to win so we needed that result after Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Margate. We see any points dropped as a missed opportunity and that was the case against Margate.

“But we played a full strength Harlow team and were able to knock the ball around well on their surface too.

“I have not won this cup before and I would certainly like to, but we all want to win every competition we enter.”

Although it was Bricknell’s first start in more than seven weeks, he says he was actually back in training midway through December.

But with a number of Town’s matched falling afoul to the weather, he has had to wait for his chance.

And he was pleased to net his 19th and 20th goals of the season in what was just his 16th start of the campaign.

“Goals are important and I am pleased with my return so far,” he said. “There is still plenty of the season to go and to have already scored 20 is pleasing.

“I missed a number of games when the team was playing three times a week so I missed good opportunities to get more goals then but I am back now and feel good.

“November sounds like ages ago but I was actually back after three-and-a-half weeks. It has been because of postponements that it has been delayed so I have been keen to get back out there and I hope I can keep on scoring.”
