Isthmian League Cup quarter-final

JAKE Robinson took his tally to 39 goals for the season as Billericay Town defeated Wingate & Finchley to progress to the last four of the Isthmian League Cup.

The striker scored and missed from the penalty spot as Town advanced.

Billericay started well but couldn’t get the breakthrough, Jermaine Pennant’s free-kick well saved.

Rob Swaine and Josh Urquhart sent efforts off target, with Billy Bricknell denied a goal on his 150th Town appearance by a brilliant goal-line clearance from Sean Cronin.

But Wingate could have taken the lead with the first chance of the second half - only an Alan Julian save keeping parity.

And Town were to strike the first blow of the evening. Robinson scored his 39th goal of the season from the penalty spot on the hour.

The forward should have taken his tally to 40 for the season in the final minutes but, having been awarded another penalty, he put the kick wide.
