ROBBIE Evans says Billericay Town will be doing all they can to put a smile on the face of stranded manager Glenn Tamplin this weekend.

The Town manager is currently in Mauritius, unable to get home because of Cyclone Berguitta which is currently threatening parts of the Indian Ocean.

Although the storm is believed to have narrowly missed the island, it is not yet known whether Tamplin will be back for tomorrow’s Isthmian Premier League match against Harrow Borough.

And Evans, who lives in a flat in the grounds of Tamplin’s home, said everyone is wishing their manager and his wife Bliss a safe return journey.

“Obviously we want the gaffer to be at the game and it is a bit worrying for us,” said the former Wrexham midfielder.

“That said, we cannot afford for it to distract us from what we need to do on the pitch.

“All Glenn wants us to do is focus on the football. I am sure three points will put a smile on his face.”

Evans has featured in eight of the last nine games, starting seven of those, in a number of different positions.

And he says he is pleased to help the team in any way he can, and has urged his team to be brave as they bid to close the gap on leaders Dulwich Hamlet tomorrow.

“Harry (Wheeler) and the gaffer know the way I play and I am happy to do the dirty work,” he said. “The game might not always go my way but I’ll always give everything. I have played all over the place and I don’t mind that. It’s good for me to be able to do that.

“We now need to get three points tomorrow. We drew our last league game against Margate and sometimes it is about who wants it most.

“You need to be willing to stick your head in and you need to be brave. We have done that and will need to again tomorrow.

“We have got three good results in different cup competitions and we need to carry that into the league.

“It was nice to get 90 minutes on Tuesday, but now our focus moves to tomorrow.”
