THE MATCH: Bowers & Pitsea will be determined to keep the chasing pack at arm’s distance when Romford make the trip to the Len Salmon Stadium tomorrow.

Second-placed Bowers are in good form in the Isthmian North and have won seven of the last eight matches in the division.

The exception was Ware at the end of December - a team Romford are joint on points with towards the foot of the standings.

And this match could come at a good time for in-form Romford. Four straight wins and five victories in the last six matches before Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat to Ware have lifted them from the bottom of the division and kept them in contention for league survival.

Bowers thrashed Romford 5-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the year, although this promises to be a different game.

THE INSIGHT: “The Romford that lost to Ware won’t be the Romford that we will see at Bowers,” said boss Rob Small. “The way they play is more geared to playing against teams higher up the league.

“The form table will make them in better form than us, despite the defeat, and I am mindful of that. This seems to be a bad time to play Romford but you take the rough with the smooth.

“Hornchurch and Canvey won in the week but I was pleased with the Hornchurch result as I don’t think we are competing with them and we are with Haringey Borough. I saw Canvey on Tuesday and they were very good. They could chase Hornchurch.”

THE TEAM NEWS: Striker Charlie Hughes has joined from Burnham Ramblers.
