There are a few games that stand out for me although the one I always remember was my debut for Billericay.

We were playing at East Thurrock United in August 2015 and they were a good side - they ended up getting promotion at the end of the season.

But it was a good result and I played well. I made a string of fine saves and kept us in it in the first half and then my good mate George Beavan popped up late on to grab us a draw.

We were really under the cosh in the first half and I knew I wanted to prove myself. I had played in Isthmian North for a number of years but I wanted to get out there and do really well in my first game in the division above.

I remember I made a save from Ryan Scott that I should never have saved and I don’t know how I did it. He headed the ball at the back post and I was initially covering my near post so I had to sprint to the back stick and claw it away. He ran off half celebrating I think!

It’s nice to endear yourself to the fans early on. First impressions are always the best ones and I wanted to set out the right foot. I have done well for them and I have been rewarded as a lot of players left under the new ownership but I am still here.

There were a few other games too. There was one where England C goalkeeper coach Mick Payne came to watch. We drew 0-0 against Kingstonian but I wasn’t very involved and I wish I’d had a bit more to do. It is one that sticks with me as I was disappointed with the manner of the game.

We played Romford in last season’s Essex Senior Cup and I had an eventful game. I saved a penalty in normal time and we were 1-0 heading into the final minutes but they equalised and it went straight to penalties.

No-one wanted to take the first penalty and I am quite confident so I took the first one, and missed! It wasn’t the best of pens but I redeemed myself. I went back in goal and saved three of the next four penalties and we went through!
